It is our privilege to welcome you to VMUNC VIII, the eighth iteration of Vista del Lago High School’s Model United Nations Conference! Whether this is your first time raising a placard or one of many conferences you have attended, we are excited to have you join us this November.

At VMUNC, we want delegates of every experience level to have a place to challenge themselves. Model UN goes far beyond speeches and resolutions; it asks delegates to defend ideas, work with people they may disagree with, think quickly, and approach difficult issues from perspectives other than their own. For newer delegates, we hope VMUNC serves as an introduction to everything Model UN has to offer. For returning delegates, we hope it gives you the chance to test your skills, take risks, and become a stronger delegate.

This year, VMUNC VIII will feature committees covering current international issues, complex policy questions, and fictional scenarios. Across our General Assembly, Specialized, and Crisis committees, our staff has worked to create topics that allow for serious debate while still giving delegates room to be creative. Regardless of your committee or experience level, we ask that you come prepared to participate, remain open-minded, work with your fellow delegates, and make the most of the conference.

Finally, we would like to thank our Secretariat, chairs, staff, advisors, and delegates whose work and participation make VMUNC possible. We look forward to welcoming you to Vista del Lago and seeing what you bring to committee.
